Scientific Investigations of the Eucharistic Miracle

In 1970, Pope Paul VI commissioned scientific studies of the relics of the Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano. The results were extraordinary.

Dr. Odoardo Linoli and Dr. Ruggero Bertelli conducted comprehensive investigations. They identified the flesh as striated muscle tissue of the myocardium (heart tissue) and endocardium.

The blood was confirmed as human, with blood type AB and normal protein distribution. Despite being over 1200 years old, no traces of preservatives were found.

The blood retains the same properties as fresh blood - a fact that modern science cannot explain.

Dr. Bertelli repeated the studies in 1981 with the same results. The scientific commission declared in 1976: "Science cannot provide an explanation for these phenomena."
